All staff within Muirshiel are registered through the Protecting Vulnerable Groups procedures and have relevant Social Care Qualifications. The team are all trained to recognised standards through the Scottish Qualifications Framework having ether a level 2, level 3 or level 4 SVQ in Social Care. Senior staff have undertaken both management and leadership training at either level 3 or 4. Ongoing training and development is regularly undertaken with the team participating in the Care Inspectorate lead CAPA programme (Care About Physical Activity) designed to maximise physical capacity of those within a care setting. Learning from this programme is incorporated into our care and support planning process and reflected in our day-to-day activities.
More recently, all care staff have engaged in specific Dementia care studies and attained either a level 2 or level 3 qualification which is in addition to our Social care qualification mentioned above. This allows us to meet the needs of those living with dementia who represent a growing number of those residing within our community.
